Book Acquisition Editor (60%-80%)

Do you share our passion for spreading the newly acquired knowledge of today’s scientific community and feel motivated to contribute to open access publishing? We are looking for a dynamic and proactive team player to join the MDPI Books team as Acquisition Editor (60-80%) to focus on discovering and acquiring a program of open access books (monographs, edited collections, reference works and textbooks).

 As Book Acquisition Editor you will:

  • Act as ambassador for MDPI Books, communicating our services and passion in order to attract editors/authors
  • Develop and solicit proposals to promote our open access book publishing services
  • Develop concepts for books and book series in line with the company strategy
  • Cultivate a wide network of authors and advisors by engaging with scholars around the world as sources of potential collaboration
  • Identifying trends in the book publishing market


  • Few years of professional experience in the book publishing industry, academic publishing environment and open access
  • Experience in acquiring scholarly or serious trade books
  • Exceptional sales skills and experience in negotiating publication contracts
  • A well-developed ability to network in the scholarly community
  • Dynamic and reliable team player with excellent interpersonal skills and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong organization and prioritizing skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English; German skills are beneficial
  • Capability to work in a dynamic and international environment
